FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Find clear answers on deadlines, free units, eligibility, loans, and common rejections under PM Surya Ghar.

When does PM Surya Ghar end?
The scheme is approved until 31 March 2027, the end of the 2026–27 financial year, with a target of 1 crore homes. No extension has been officially announced. Check pmsuryaghar.gov.in for the latest notices.
How many free units do I get?
The scheme aims to give homes up to 300 units of free electricity a month from their rooftop system. Your actual units depend on system size and how much power you use.
Is the subsidy taxable?
Under current guidelines, the subsidy paid to residential households is not treated as taxable income. Check with your tax adviser for your case.
Can flat owners apply individually?
No. Individual flat owners cannot apply. The housing society can apply for common-area solar.
Why do applications get rejected?
Common reasons are mismatched names on documents, a wrong consumer number, an unregistered installer, or bank details not linked to Aadhaar. We check these before you apply.
Is there a loan under the scheme?
Yes. Several banks offer solar loans for homes. Once the subsidy is credited, it can be adjusted against the loan.
Does it cover hybrid systems?
A grid-connected hybrid home system may qualify if it meets the scheme rules and DISCOM approves net metering. Batteries are not covered.
